Anant Chaturdashi
Anant Chaturdashi is an annual festival observed by Hindus and Jains. It is the last day of the 10-day long Ganesh Chaturthi, which celebrates the arrival of Lord Ganesh to earth from Kailash Parvat. The day falls on the 14th day of the lunar fortnight. The day is also famous as Ganesh Chaudas, a day when devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha by immersing idols into lakes or the sea. The day is observed by Ganapati Visarjana, Wearing Sacred Silk Thread (Ananta), prayers and religious rituals.
