Ashura
Ashura is an Islamic holiday observed on the tenth day of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Fasting typically begins on the evening of the 7th and ends on the evening of the 8th of August. This solemn occasion is commemorated with both fasting and mourning as a remembrance of significant events in Islamic history, including the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, and the Exodus of Moses and the Israelites from Egypt.
