Austrian National Day
Austrian National Day, or Nationalfeiertag, is celebrated annually on October 26th. This day commemorates the country’s declaration of neutrality after World War II and the re-establishment of Austria’s sovereignty. The day is also known as the Day of the Austrian Flag. Austrian citizens can visit federal museums for free, and various federal institutions open their doors to the public. The national flag is omnipresent throughout the country, and memorial ceremonies are held in many locations. It is a day to celebrate Austria’s rich cultural heritage and its commitment to peace and neutrality.
