Chhath Puja

Chhath Puja is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival historically native to the Indian subcontinent, more specifically, the Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh and the Madhesh region of Nepal. Prayers dedicated to the solar deity Surya take place on this day, to express gratitude and thankfulness for providing the earth with the bounties of life, as well as requesting for their wishes to be granted. The prayers and rituals often take place on holy rivers, ponds and other bodies of water.
