Chuseok, also known as Hangawi, is a significant three-day harvest festival and holiday in South Korea. Occurring on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar, coinciding with the full moon, it holds the distinction of being South Korea’s largest traditional holiday. During this time, families reunite in their hometowns to partake in festivities together. They indulge in a sumptuous feast featuring traditional delicacies and take the opportunity to express gratitude to their ancestors for the bountiful harvest. The term “Chuseok” itself translates to “autumn evening,” capturing the essence of this cherished celebration.
