Coming of Age Day Japan is the age of adulthood is twenty – this day is a celebration for all those who have attained this age in the past year. Seijin no Hi translates as ‘coming of age day’, and has been celebrated annually since around 714 CE. In many Japanese prefectures, ceremonies are held. The young adults often wear traditional clothes for the occasion and receive gifts.
