Constitution Day (South Korea)
South Korea Constitution Day, also known as Jeheonjeol, is celebrated annually on July 17th to commemorate the creation of the Constitution of the Republic of Korea. This day is significant in Korean culture as it marks the establishment of democracy and the rule of law in the country. On this day, a commemorative ceremony is held with the President, Chairman of the National Assembly, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and the original constitutional assembly members. While it is no longer a “no work” public holiday, it is still a national holiday for commemoration. It is a day to reflect on the importance of democracy and the Constitution in Korean society.
