Day of the Glories of the Army
Day of the Glories of the Army is a national holiday celebrated in Chile on September 19th, a day after the country’s Independence Day. This day commemorates the installation of the First Government Council and the first military parade in Chilean history. The grand finale of the Fiestas Patrias is the Great Military Parade of Chile, which takes place in Santiago’s O’Higgins Park and is overseen by the President of Chile in his/her performance of his/her constitutional mandate as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The parade is led by the Chilean Armed Forces, and attracts millions of people, with live broadcasts on radio, television, and the internet.
