Dhanu Sankranti

Also called ‘Dhanu Sankraman’, this is a Sankrati, or monthly Hindu holy day that marks the occasion when the sun enters a different zodiac sign, on this occasion Sagittarius. It is mostly celebrated in the state of Orissa, India. It is a day of celebrating Lord Jagannath and Lord Surya (sun god). Rituals include special prayers and bathing in sacred rivers.
