Durga Puja begins

Durga Puja reveres and pays homage to the Hindu Goddess Durga. she is the ten-armed mother Goddess, celebrated for saving the world by defeating Mahishasur, the evil, shape-shifting buffalo demon. No man or God was able to defeat the demon. Durga emerged from the collective energies of all the gods, and each of her ten arms wielded the deadliest weapon of each god.
The ten-day festival is an annual Hindu event, originating from India. Traditionally, Durga Puja is celebrated in the Indian states of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Tripura, Assam and the country of Bangladesh. The festival honours the Goddess Durga by reciting scripture, performing arts, gift-giving, visiting family and friends, feasting and cultural public processions.
