Endometriosis Awareness Month in Australia after a decision by then federal Health Minister Greg Hunt in 2017 to raise awareness about endometriosis, a chronic health condition for women, and improve education, diagnosis, treatment and research into the disease. Endometriosis effects at least one in nine women, and causes extreme discomfort and pain, and potentially impacts fertility. On average, it takes 7 to 12 years to diagnose.
