He was an Orthodox Christian Saint who became the first bishop of Athens. Dionysius the Areopagite was known for being the protector of the Judges and the Judiciary. Today, two large churches in Kolonaki and Athens bear his name. The village of Dionysi in the south of Heraklion, Greece is also named after the saint.
