Guam Liberation Day
The Guam Liberation Day is celebrated annually on July 21st to commemorate the day Guam was liberated from Japanese forces on July 21, 1944, by American forces. It is Guam’s biggest holiday and is celebrated with great enthusiasm. The festivities include a queen contest, summer carnival, fireworks display, and mile-long parade on Marine Corps Drive in Hagåtña from Adelup to Paseo de Susana, as well as solemn memorials and visits to massacre sites. The Liberation Day Festival is held at the CHamoru Village, where visitors can enjoy live entertainment and cultural performances. The holiday is a significant cultural event for Guamanians, and it is a time to celebrate their freedom and heritage.
