International Day against Nuclear Tests
International Day against Nuclear Tests, declared by the United Nations General Assembly on December 2nd, 2009, aims to raise awareness of the devastating effects of nuclear testing. On this day, various activities such as conferences, exhibits, competitions, lectures, and broadcasts are organized worldwide to highlight the importance of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation efforts. Prior to the establishment of this day, the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty was adopted by the United Nations to prohibit nuclear testing. Currently, 185 countries have signed the treaty, with 170 of them ratifying it, signaling global support for nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament.
