International Day of Democracy

International Day of Democracy is one of the United Nations’ International Days, and providing an opportunity to review the state of democracy in the world. It seeks to encourage member states to uphold democratic principles and take measures to prevent the persecution of political opponents, prevent aggressive over-policing and postponing of elections. Democracy is as much a process as a goal, and should be a system available to all.
