Mithuna Sankranti begins

Mithuna Sankranti, also known as ‘Raja Parba’ and ‘Mithuna Sankramanam,’ is a four-day Hindu celebration that marks the transition of the sun into Mithuna (Gemini). This auspicious occasion signifies the beginning of the agricultural year, the arrival of the first rains, and the menstrual period of Bhudevi, the Goddess Earth and wife of Lord Vishnu. Celebrated throughout India, Mithuna Sankranti holds special significance in Odisha, Eastern India, where it is known as Raja Sankranti. In Odisha, this four-day festival is renowned as the only festival in the world that celebrates womanhood and menstruation.
