National Heroes Day (Saint Vincent and Grenadines)
An annual public holiday in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines that commemorates and honours the country’s national heroes and their fights for independence, human rights and social justice. The date marks the 14 March 1795 death of Joseph Chatoyer (aka Satuye) who died fighting against the British colonial government of Saint Vincent. National Heroes Day has been celebrated since 2002 and is a time when many remember the struggles against British and French colonisation.
