Onam (India) begins

This is an annual harvest festival in the Indian state of Kerala. It commemorates King Mahabali and Vamana. Celebrations include the raising of the festival flag, parades featuring colourful floats, depicting the Kerala culture, meals shared together, and the joining of those from different religions.
