Parsva Ekadashi
Parsva Ekadashi falls on the 11th day of the Shukla Paksha (the bright fortnight of moon) during the lunar month of Bhadrapada. It is observed all over India and is also known as ‘Vamana Ekadashi’, ‘Jayanti Ekadashi’, ‘Jaljhilini Ekadashi’ and ‘Parivartini Ekadashi’, depending on the region of the country. It is believed that this is when Lord Vishnu shifts his sleeping position from his left side to his right. Devotees fast for 24 hours, from sunrise of Ekadashi to the Dwadashi. Observers are bestowed with happiness, wealth and good health. It also relieves the sins of the past and liberates the person from the continuous cycle of birth and death.
