Popular Consultation Day
Popular Consultation Day is a cultural holiday celebrated annually on August 30th in Timor-Leste (East Timor). This day commemorates the referendum that took place on August 30th, 1999, where the people of East Timor voted for independence from Indonesia. The day is observed with military parades, open-air concerts, and dances. Cultural festivals, communal meals, and other events are also held to celebrate the country’s rich cultural heritage.
