Presentation of the Theotokos

Presentation of the Theotokos according to the apocryphal Protovangelium of James, Mary’s parents, Joachim and Anne, received a heavenly message that they would have a child. This day commemorates Mary’s parents dedicating her to the temple when she was 3 years old. The day is celebrated by Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and some Anglo-Catholic Churches.
