Saint Nicholas Day

Saint Nicholas Day is a  Christian feast day observed in Western Christian countries on this day. It is customary in some countries for ‘Saint Nicholas’ to bring gifts or money for children on this day or in Poland and the Ukraine to bring a twig or piece of coal to naughty children. The figure of Santa Claus aka Father Christmas derives from Saint Nicholas. This day is also observed by attending Mass or other services of worship.
