Shab e-Barat
A religious festival held on the night of the 14th day of the Islamic month of Sha’ban. It is one of the holiest nights in the Islamic calendar. On this night, Muslims’ fate for the coming year is determined and their past deeds are recorded in the Book of Deeds. The night is spent in prayer, reflection and good deeds. Families may visit the graves of loved ones and provide food for the poor and those in need. People stay up late, engaging in religious activities, reading the Quran, and asking for forgiveness for their sins.
