Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Birth Anniversary (Bangladesh)

This annual national public holiday commemorates the birthday of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (1920–1975), the first prime minister of Bangladesh, who worked to establish Bangladesh as a secular democratic nation. Rahman and most of his family were assassinated in a military coup in 1975.
