Tajikistan Independence Day
Tajikistan Independence Day is celebrated every year on September 9th. This holiday commemorates the day of September 9, 1991, when Tajikistan officially declared its independence from the disintegrating Soviet Union. It is a national holiday and a non-working day in Tajikistan. On this day, many businesses are closed, and people participate in lighting fireworks and witnessing the famous ‘21-gun salute.’ Military parades, cultural performances, and mass games are usually held to celebrate Tajikistan Independence Day. A traditional way of celebrating the Day of State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan is by having small feasts with family and friends.
