Tisha B’Av (Fast of Ninth of Av)
Tisha B’Av is the saddest day on the Jewish Calendar, commemorating a number of disasters in Jewish History – primarily the destruction of Solomon’s Temple by the Neo-Babylonian Empire and the Second Temple by the Roman Empire in Jerusalem. Believed to be a day which is destined for tragedy, fasting, deprivation and prayers begin in the evening of the 5th and finish in the evening of the 6th of August.
