Twelfth Night (Epiphany Eve)

Twelfth Night, or Epiphany Eve, is a Christian celebration. It is the last night of the Twelve Days of Christmas and marks the coming of the Epiphany the next day. In some cultures, it is considered unlucky to leave Christmas decorations up beyond this day. Parties centred around King Cake are no longer as common, but were very popular in the mid-twentieth century, where friends would gather – a cake is served with a small baby doll toy inside. The guest whose serving contains this prize is ‘king’.
