United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation
United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation is celebrated annually on September 12th to promote and celebrate the recent developments made by regions and countries in the global South. This day highlights the importance of South-South cooperation and marks the day in 1978 when the United Nations Conference on Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries adopted the Buenos Aires Plan of Action for Promoting and Implementing Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries. On this day, UN Member States celebrate and reflect on their advocacy and commitment towards the contribution of South-South and triangular cooperation to urgent development solutions. The day is also marked by cultural events and receptions hosted by governments and UN agencies.
