Youth Day Zambia

Youth Day Zambia is a national annual public holiday in Zambia, dedicated to the youth of the country. The day is celebrated with events and activities aimed at empowering young people and promoting their rights and opportunities. The events typically include workshops, seminars, and cultural shows that focus on issues such as education, employment, and health. On Youth Day, people from all over Zambia come together to recognize the role young people play in the development and future of the country. The day marks the 1962 date during Zambia’s fight for independence from Britain when a youth riot in Chimwemwe in the streets was met with police firing live ammunition, killing some of the young protesters. Zambia gained independence in 1964, and Youth Day was made a public holiday in 1966.
