Halloween

Halloween is held the evening before the Western Christian All Saints’ Day, also known as all Hallows Day and is a holiday commemorating the dead. It is traditionally believed that the souls of those who have passed away would visit their former homes on this day. Overtime, this practice evolved to children dressing up in costumes to go ‘trick or treating’, knocking on the doors in their neighbourhood seeking candy and treats. Other activities include carving pumpkins into ‘jack-o-lanterns, lighting bonfires, apple bobbing, pranking and visiting haunted themed attractions. For some people, Halloween is a Christian religious holiday where church services are held, lighting candles on the graves of the dead.
