Nobel Prize Day
Nobel Prize Day, observed annually on December 10th, commemorates the anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death in 1896 and the presentation of the Nobel Prizes since 1901. As stipulated in Nobel’s will, the Nobel Prizes in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, and Literature are awarded in Stockholm, Sweden, while the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded in Oslo, Norway. Since 1969, an additional prize, the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, has been awarded in Stockholm. Each laureate is required to give a public lecture on a topic related to their prize, typically occurring in the week leading up to Nobel Prize Day. These prestigious awards recognize outstanding contributions to humanity in various fields and celebrate the legacy of Alfred Nobel’s vision for promoting progress, innovation, and peace worldwide.
