Chaand Raat

Chaand Raat, literally translating to ‘night of the moon’ is a South Asian Muslim celebration of Eid ul-Fitr. It is the night with a new moon for the new Islamic month Shawwal. It is a time of celebration for families and friends gathering in open areas at the end of the last day of Ramadan to witness the new moon. It is celebrated by preparing desserts for the next day, and decorating the streets and houses.
