Liberation Day (Bulgaria)

A public holiday in Bulgaria, Liberation Day, or “Day of Liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman Dominion” commemorates the Liberation of Bulgaria during the Russo-Turkish war (1877-1878). The Treaty of San Stefano was signed on the 3rd of March, 1878, forced the Ottoman Empire that led to the re-stablishment of Bulgarian statehood. In Bulgaria, residents around the country lay flowers and notes at monuments to the fallen of the war, both Bulgarian, and Russian. There are also military parades, often held in conjunction with Russian forces.
