Magha Puja Day
Magha Puja day is considered the second most important Buddhist festival. It is celebrated on the full moon day of the third lunar month – it celebrates the gathering that was held between Buddha and 1250 of his first disciples. Buddhists celebrate the creation of an ideal community. Presently, it is a public holiday around much of Asia, and is an occasion to attend temple and perform giving alms, meditating and listening to teachings. In the evening, there are often candlelight processions.
