Nigeria Independence Day

Nigeria Independence Day is celebrated on October 1st every year and marks the country’s independence from British rule in 1960. The President’s address to the public marks the beginning of the festivities, which are broadcasted on radio and television. The Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the workforce, and national education services all celebrate this day with the public. Offices and markets close on this day, and citizens take to the streets dressed in green and white to celebrate. Primary and secondary schools also perform a parade in various state capitals and local government areas.
