Lebanon Independence Day

Lebanon Independence Day celebrates the day in 1943 when Lebanon’s constitutionally elected leaders were released from detention by French occupation forces after their commanders accepted the independence of Lebanon. This day is celebrated with family and friends, and for younger people is mostly celebrated in schools. In downtown Beirut, an official army parade takes place and colours of the Lebanese flag are worn at the ceremony.
