World Tuberculosis Day
World Tuberculosis Day was Established by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1982, this day commemorates the 1882 discovery of the tuberculosis (TB) bacterium by German bacteriologist Robert Koch. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness about TB, promote actions to prevent and control the disease and advocate for increased resources for TB care and research. One of the UN’s goals is to end the public health threat of TB by 2030.
