St. Vitus Day, known as ‘Vidovdan’ in Serbia, is observed as a national and religious public holiday. It commemorates Saint Prince Lazar and the Serbian holy martyrs who perished during the Battle of Kosovo against the Ottoman Empire on June 15, 1389.
